Size guide: rings, chains, and bracelets

Jewelry is best enjoyed when it fits right. A loose ring gets lost; a short chain feels tight. This guide walks through the three most common measurements — all doable at home with a ruler and a piece of paper.
Rings
Method 1: using a ring that already fits
- Take a ring you wear comfortably on the finger you want the new piece on.
- Measure the inside diameter in millimeters with a ruler — from one inner edge to the other, across the center.
- Match to the table:

Method 2: using a strip of paper
- Cut a paper strip 1 cm wide.
- Wrap it around the finger where you’ll wear the ring, at the base. Snug but comfortable.
- Mark where the paper overlaps with a pen.
- Measure the length in millimeters — that’s the circumference. Divide by 3.14 to get the diameter.
Tips
- Measure at the end of the day. Fingers swell slightly, and you want the size at its largest.
- If you’re between two sizes, go up — a ring that’s too tight can get stuck.
- Knuckles matter: if yours are prominent, the size needs to pass over the knuckle comfortably, not just sit at the base.
Chains
A chain’s length changes the look entirely. Standard lengths:
- 40 cm (16”) — choker, right at the base of the neck.
- 45 cm (18”) — the standard. Sits just above the collarbone.
- 50 cm (20”) — a finger below the collarbone. Great with low necklines.
- 55 cm (22”) — falls over the sternum.
- 60 cm (24”) — long, rests on the chest.
How to pick: measure your favorite current chain with a tape. No tape? Wrap a string around your neck the way you want the piece to hang, mark it, and measure with a ruler.
Bracelets
- Wrap a soft tape measure around your wrist, just below the wrist bone.
- Note the measurement in centimeters.
- Add 1-2 cm for a bracelet with some movement, or 0.5 cm for a closer fit.
VKJ sizes:
- S: 16-17 cm
- M: 18-19 cm
- L: 20-21 cm
